What's the deal with IMPRINTING?
Seriously.
There are SO MANY problems with the imprinting scenario.
- neither party has a choice
- it's irreversible
- it happens the first time a shapeshifter lays eyes on the imprintee after phasing
- it seems to totally exclude the option that either party might be gay because imprinting appears to affect opposite sex members only, as it's for the purpose of keeping the shapeshifting line strong
- WTF is up with imprinting on infants??? seriously? dudes spend a few fistsful of years on daycare duty and then move on to feeling the imprintee up as soon as she grows tits?
- is it supposed to be ROMANTIC that there's no wooing and no connection beyond the supernatural? because personally, i think the fact that neither party has any choice in the affair bleeds any hope of romance right out of the relationship. it's all a bit handmaid's tale to me.
